Bringing you Alex’s most dangerous thoughts since 2006

Poem: From the Anthills of My Mind July 30, 2006

Filed under: family — Alex @ 9:02 pm

Ants bellicose battle forever inside my brain
I wish, I wish, I wish that they would stop
If only you knew the great and tortuous pain
When they’re running from side to side, bottom to top.
Then they’re gone in a puff of smoke
Now that I need them, need them so bad
Were they there before, or was it some sick joke
I think they might know this makes me quite mad!
But there they are–they’re back again
Some big, some small, important each and all
Slowly escaping, some by word, and some by pen
I hope at least some of them survive the fall.
For this is the way with ideas and thinking
Seldom they succeed while most go sinking.

I like this, even though I rarely like poetry.
